The Challenge:
When narcoterrorism and criminal activity throughout Latin America increased, US Partner Nation (PN) air defense capabilities and technology required modernization to protect sovereign airspace, territorial integrity, and strategic assets. Cambridge supported this critical mission through the design, construction, and integration of an entirely new system in within one of our key PNs.
Our Solution:
The solution on this program was designed specifically for the geographically-dispersed PN. This included new microwave and radio networks, a satellite network with a regional hub and remote sites, and state-of-the-art command-and-control and data centers. We also delivered long-range radars, a satellite hub, independent satellite terminals, microwave antennas for data and voice transmission, and an upgrade of the microwave network using fiber optic capability.
Results:
This comprehensive program bolstered the ability of a key PN to defend its own airspace. The cutting-edge advanced air defense systems and upgraded equipment improved surveillance and detection of potential threats. The specialized training programs equipped PN personnel to effectively operate and maintain the new systems on their own. This approach also fostered government-to-government collaboration, cementing a strategic alliance.
